Before beginning and after completing our lessons on the cell cycle, we had the students take a 15 minute pre-assessment to test their prior knowledge and also to give a basis for comparison. We not only compared the test scores of this pre-test with a post-test for numerical data, but we will also compared the comfortably of the students with the topic before and after the lesson. Here are comments from 10 students about the test, before and after the lessons.

B: “I personally think that the test was hard mainly because of the fact that I’ve never heard of 95% of the stuff on the test.  If I learned it before I took the test I think I would have done better.”

B: “I believe the test was a waste because nobody really knew any of this.  The test really wasn’t a waste but nobody knew what was going on so we all failed.  I think it would have been best to tell us at least what half of this stuff is, because most of us didn’t know.”
