Steps:
1.
Create a set of vocabulary word cards. You can print them out on business card stock or write them out of index cards.
2.
Create a set of definition cards.
3.
Divide the class into equal groups of no more than four students.
4.
Give each group a set of word cards and a set of definition cards, mixed up and faced down.
5.
Tell the students the instructions:
a. Do not turn over your cards until I say to start
b. The object is to be the first team to correctly match each word with its
definition.
You may not use your notes, a dictionary or any other word
defining device.
c. Once your team has met the objective, one person from your team
must raise his or her hand and wait to be acknowledged.
d. The teacher will check you matches
for accuracy. If you have mistakes,
the teacher will only say, “you have mistakes” and will not specify what
your mistakes are. You will only have one chance to correct your
mistakes. The next time someone from your group raises his or her hand,
you
will get graded.
e. If you are the first team to accurately
match all the words with their
correct definitions, you will receive a prize.
6. Begin
